La Boheme ch.1.1 interlude - 12

She loves her big nose.

I had a bad week. That's no excuse, just an explanation. Things I like - I experimented a bit with depth through angles in the upper frame, and I think I captured the level of soalr intensity I was going for. While I didn't do a accurate job it still looks better than it would otherwise have done. Things I don't like, and the list goes on and on. Most obvious thing is that nose. I was panicking and couldn't think of a good nose-shape, so I copy-pasted Dea's snake-nose onto her. Her thumb looks odd, and it has no shadow despite being hidden from the light. I made an error in perception when I made the window bars - I had the wall visible to the right, which looking at older pages I realised wouldn't happen from that angle, but I had already inked the line, so I just filled in a few more lines and inked them, without realizing the bar was much thicker than the others. I don't like how the old woman reading the letter looks like a man, or how the shadow has patterns after the brush in it. I made a mistake in the upper panel, on the roof tiles, making them too dark. And looking at it now I think it could have usedsome motion lines for her lips curling.

But here we are, the twelth page of the interlude to the first part of chapter one, after which the chapter truly begins.
